THE CAHSEE • Every tenth grader must take the CAHSEE in March • You MUST pass the CAHSEE to get your diploma • The more times a person takes the CAHSEE, the harder the test seems to be for them to pass… So… Pass it the first time! English = Reading + Essay
Materials • You need a spiral notebook or composition book just for this class! • You need a pen or pencil. • Flashcards! Yes, you should be studying! Yes we will have quizzes and tests! No! it will not count as a grade! Yes, you are doing this to help yourself pass the CAHSEE!

Essay Scores • The CAHSEE is scored on a scale of 1-4. • 3-4 is a passing score. • 1-2 means you must take the test over next year! How did you do?

The Thesis When you are writing an essay on an issue, your thesis should be your opinion on the topic. It should show your attitude (feeling) towards this subject. After thinking about this issue, what point do you want to make?
