Plasma • Liquid part of the blood. • Water makes up 90% plasma
Red Blood Cells • Take up oxygen (o2) in the cells and deliver it to cells elsewhere in the body. • Produced in bone marrow Hemoglobin Iron-containing protein that binds chemically to Oxygen molecules.
White Blood Cells • Body’s disease fighter’s. • Recognize disease-causing organisms and alert the body it has been invaded. • Only 1 white blood cell for every 500 red blood cells.
Platelets • Cells fragments that play an important part in creating blood clots.
RH factor • A type of protein on red blood cells. • Determined by a marker on the red blood cell.If your blood is RH +, you have the Rh marker. • If your blood is Rh-, you lack the marker cells • It can be very dangerous if you are + and receive – blood or visa versa.
