  3. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) • Originally specified in RFC 2543 (March 1999) • RFC 3261, new standards track released in June 2002 • An application-layer control signaling protocol for creating, modifying and terminating sessions with one or more participants • A component that can be used with other IETF protocols to build a complete multimedia architecture (e.g. RTP, RTSP, MEGACO, SDP)

  4. SIP Architecture • Client-server in nature • Main entities: • User Agent • Proxy Server • Redirect Server • Registration Server • Location Server

  5. S I P sõnumid (RFC3261) • INVITE – meediasessiooni algatamise kutse saatmine kasutajale. • ACK – kinnitus INVITE sõnumiga sessiooni algatamise kutse saamise kohta. • BYE – meediasessiooni lõpetamine. • CANCEL – pooleliolevate päringute katkestamine (ei katkesta pooleliolevat meedia-sessiooni). • OPTIONS – serveri võimaluste küsimine. • REGISTER – kasutaja registreerumine SIP serveris

  6. Lisandused /kohe!!/ PRACK – esialgne kinnitus (RFC 3262) SUBSCRIBE – sündmusest teavitamiseks registreerumine (RFC 3265) NOTIFY – kasutajate teavitamine sündmusest (RFC 3265) PUBLISH – serveri teavitamine sündmusest ... ...

  17. Signaling Media Hajutatud korraldus

  18. Conference Server Signaling Media Tsentraalne korraldus

  19. Centralized conference • A centralized conference is an association of endpoints, called conference participants, with a central endpoint, called a conference focus. The focus has direct peer relationships with the participants by maintaining a separate call signaling interface with each. Consequently, in this centralized conferencing model, the call signaling graph is always a star.

  20. Multicast Network Signaling Media Jaotatud funktsioonid

  23. Indicating User Agent Capabilities in SIP (S): • [RFC3840] defines a mechanism for carrying capability information about a user agent in REGISTER requests and in dialog-forming requests like INVITE. It has found use with conferencing (the is focus parameter declares that a user agent is a conference server) and with applications like push-to-talk.

  24. Basic Network Media Services with SIP (I) • [RFC4240] defines a way for SIP application servers to invoke announcement and conferencing services from a media server. This is accomplished through a set of defined URI parameters which tell the media server what to do, such as what file to play and what language to render it in.
