Background & Justification • Construction sector in Bangladesh is growing up. Large number workers work there in unhealthy and dangerous conditions. But their contributing in the socio-economic in the country. They are recognize as labour under labour laws.They have no job security, no social protection, no social dialog, low wages .They are not orgarnised,workers are not aware about the rights.Also Employers doesn’t follow the labour law and human rights & ILO conventions on 87,98. • Due to closer most of the formal sector industries, trade union loosing their membership. As result of this trade union organizations becoming weaker. If we do not organize informal sector workers our trade union movement will be weak. Bargaining power becoming poor. So Trade unions should initiative to organize unorganized sector. Our unions experiences says this Construction sector is the most important unorganized sectors. If we organize construction workers trade union membership will be increase and TU will be strong. There will be scope to bargain with the employers. And they will establish they’re rights and they can improve decent work in their work places.
Target group • Construction workers in Dhaka (adjacent areas) Parties involved : ILO,ITUC and NGOs
OBJECTIVES: Short Term: • To create positive awareness about their rights and benefits • Motivation of workers Long Term: • To organize the unorganized workers Aim: Forming unions
OUTPUT: • At the end of the project the organization will be able to form a union with increased membership to protect their rights • 20 trained organizers(Male:12,Female:8) • 50 local trained organizers ( Male:30,Female:20) • Improved working condition (Decent work)
ACTIVITIES: Activity -1 1.1Organizing Workshop/Seminar 20 participants (Male 12,Female-8,Duration- 5 days) 1.1.Group meetings (Count :10) 1.2.Two training for local key person (Participants:50)
ACTIVITIES Activity-2: 2.1. Set up First Aid center 2.2. Provide pure drinking water 2.3. Discussion Meeting( Count:12) 2.4. Campaign Program Activity -3: 3.1. Fill up and Collect D-Form 3.2. Preparation and submission for regisration

INDICATORS OF ACHIEVEMENTS • 20 National level skilled organizers. • 50 local level skilled organizer • Increase membership • Form union in the construction sector • Improvement of decent work

MONITORING/REPORTING/EVALUATION • Monitoring the local organizers activities every three months • Every 3 month activities report • Annual Activities Report • Evaluation of the project activities quarterly/half yearly/Annually
BUDGET • Organizing workshop- (5 days,Participants-20) =TK 92000/- • Group meetings:(10 no)= TK 22000/- • Organizing Seminar fro local representatives(2 no,Participants-50) = TK 150000/- • Set-up First Aid Center • Medical assistance -2 persons= TK 10,000
BUDGET • Medicines- (1 Year) = TK 120000/- 5. Pure Drinking Water(1 yr) = TK- 108000/- 6. Discussion meeting(12 nos)= TK 24000/- 7.Campaign(Posters/Leaflet/Banner) = TK 50,000. 8. Educational Materials – TK 35,000 Total TK=6,11,000/=
