CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS • Regional Conference • The North Texas Chapter was excited to have the opportunity to host the HFTP Texas Regional Conference for 2011. The conference was held at the Sheraton in Arlington, and provided: • Two days of educational seminars • Review sessions for the CHAE and CHTP exams • Opportunity to take the CHAE and CHTP exams • A social outing to enjoy horse racing at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Charity/Community Involvement During the September, 2010 meeting, the North Texas Chapter coordinated a coat and blanket drive to benefit the Austin Street shelter, whose mission is to “shepherd homeless men, women and children toward a lifestyle of self-sufficiency.” In excess of 300 coats and blankets were donated and delivered to the shelter.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Scholarship In the spring of 2011, North Texas HFTP was pleased to continue our relationship with the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas by awarding two scholarships for a total of $2,000. The university selected the individuals within the hospitality school to receive the scholarship. Harry Leventhal, Chapter President, attended a reception honoring scholarship recipients. The Chapter invited the two student scholarship winners to our November, 2011 meeting at Colonial Country Club.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Networking In addition to networking opportunities through the monthly meetings, North Texas HFTP offers to provide career information through our website. Jobs are posted on the website, and we include a link to HCareers.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD • CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Leadership Development The North Texas chapter continued its tradition of sponsoring (with the help of a stipend from HFTP International) a Board Member’s attendance at the Leadership Academy and the National Convention. We have found this to be very educational and motivational for our board members.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Networking with CMA During 2011, several members of the chapter attended a Club Managers’ Association meeting to serve as subject matter experts for a panel discussion on private clubs.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS CHAE and CHTP Exams The North Texas Chapter provided review, and proctoring for the CHAE and CHTP exams during the Texas Regional Conference in April, 2011. The North Texas Chapter also proctored a CHAE test in July, 2010 for one of our members, enabling him to take the test without waiting for a national or regional conference.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD CHAPTER’S SUMMARY OF EVENTS Communication The North Texas Chapter of HFTP communicates with our members through the website. We also send group email invitations and an evite to every meeting with a link for them to respond electronically. We send personal emails from board members to individual members requesting their input and personally inviting them to meetings, followed by telephone reminders.
