1.What is the project and How can I do it? The project will consist of : ·A digital poster using "Glogster edu" or an interactive photograph using "Thinglink" ·an oral presentation in class The topic :You are going to make an on line poster on the following topic: "The perfect day in EIBAR" In order to get information, photos and videos you can browse the websites recommended in this document EIBAR.doc
2.Project tasks You must invite other students to see and know your favourite place/s in town, and plan a perfect day there. This is what you are going to do: •1.Write an invitation and audio or video record it •2.Write directions to get to your place •3.Describe the place and show it with your video or mobile phone •4.Plan the perfect day •5.Insert all the audios, videos, music, pictures and texts in an interactive online poster or interactive photograph. You must use Glogster or Thinglink
3.Team members This is a team project – 3 or 4 people must think, work and do the project. Your teacher will tell you who the team members are..
4.PROJECT STEPS (one by one) Activity 1. Extending invitations. Invite students in the Basque Country to come and see your favourite place/places in town. Create your invitation. You can add photos, texts, music, video, and audio, and share it with teens from other towns. The format of the invitation should have that of an advertisement and it should show the suitable register.It might be : ·a written advertisement (word document) ·a recorded advertisement (Mp3 file) ·a filmed advertisement(mobile phone recording)

Activity 2. Giving directions. Now that you have sent the invitation to visit your favourite place/s in town, you should write clear directions so that anybody could easily find this/these special place/s. ·Think of the PLACES: Then plan what you will say and what information you will give in your directions. ·WRITE: Write the directions: Use time sequencers:first, then, next and last OR Use numbers before your words. ·REVISE: Check the following: Did you include ALL the information? Is the information in the right order? Did you use the LANGUAGE and the USEFUL EXPRESSIONS for giving directions clearly? ·CHECK: At last check for mistakes or errors: Check for spelling, capital letters, and proper punctuation.

Giving directions Other Expressions Street Name and Nearby Landmark Perhaps, the easiest way to give directions is just to say what street it is on but you can also give an area and a landmark. It's on Zabalgane Street. It's in the corner of Artika and Errotaza. It's next to the bank. It's across the road/street It's opposite the bookstore. Subway or Bus Directions You could also tell them what bus or subway to take, where to transfer, and where to get off. Take Line 2 to Santurtzi. Get on at Deustu station. Transfer to the Main Line. Get off at Zugutzu Station
Activity 2. Giving directions Directions by Foot or Car A third common way to give directions is to tell somebody which streets to go down and where to turn. Go down/along Portal de Castilla to Florida Park Turn left into Plazakoetxe. It's on your right. Directions by Car Route You could even state the route including highways, bridges, tunnels, and turn offs. Take the coastal highway. Take the Laudio turn off. Go over (Take) Zurriola Bridge. Go through (Take) the tunnel under the railway.

Describing your place/s ·PLAN your description: you can take into account these aspects: where the place is, its size, colour, the material it is made of, what the place is for, what you do there... ·STRUCTURE of the text: think about what you want your writing to look like. You can include pictures and videos. ·GET INFORMATION about the place/s you are going to describe: Use your own eperience/knowledge and the given links.
Activity 3. Describing your place/s 1.To write the description follow the pattern below.Answer the questions to write each paragraph. ·INTRODUCTION (1st paragraph) What do you want to describe? Why?: “I am going to describe … because it ….” Where is it? “It is in …” Why is it one of your favourite places?: “I like this place / It is one of my my favourite places because....” ·BODY (2nd paragraph) Explain what the place is for: music, sports, meeting friends... Say what the place is like. Use adjectives: “It is big/small/...” “It is reddish/white/...” What is it made of? “It is made of stone/iron/...” What do you do there? “I play with my friends/I ….” ·CONCLUSION (3rd paragraph) Write a sentence that concludes your description and invite other teenagers to come and visit your favourite place/s: “This place is fantastic. Why don’t you come and visit it?”
Activity 3. Describing your place/s 2. CHECK your work: ·How many paragraphs have you got? ·Are the paragraphs arranged in the correct order? ·Did you answer most of the questions? DESCRIPTION MODEL: MY FAVOURITE PLACE My favourite place in town is the park because I can hear the sounds of the animals living there : birds, ducks, squirrels and so on. The park is located in the middle of my city and I like to go there because I can meet my friends and play basketball. There is a river and a playground in the park and it is very big and colourful. I just like to be in the park because it is peaceful. The park is wonderful.Come and visit it!
Activity 4. Planning your day Now it´s time to plan the perfect day in your favourite place in town. You must write about what you're planning to do there with your friends or family. You can include pictures and texts on them. Choose some pictures of your favourite place in town and write an agenda with the planned events. You can answer some of the following questions to help you write. ·What is this place? ·Why is this place important for you? ·What can we do there? (write three things) ·What are you planning to do? ·Who are you going to do it with? ·When and what time are you going to do that? ·What do you usually do there? ·What moments do you like this place for? ·What happens around you when you are there? ·How does this place change when you go there?

5.Project timeline ·Day 1: Read this paper Make teams. (Remember 3 or 4 people) Choose a/some PLACE/S and select the websites or resources to use. ·Day 2: - Download the necessary information and save it or print it. Find suitable images or photographs and store them on your pen-drives. - Discuss in the team and decide what your final product should be like: 1. What parts will the project contain? 2. What will it be like? (font, colour, pictures etc) - Assign to the group members the different parts in the project for homework. To be done at home: With the help of dictionaries, school notes, etc write a draft version of your part. ·Day 3: Join the parts together and discuss again with the team in order to write the final draft version and give the printed draft to the teacher. ·Day 4: Once the teacher has checked the projects, she’ll give it back to the teams so that they write the ·“perfect” final versions. They will create the "glog" or interative photograph and send the teacher by email t the final PROJECT embed code on the due date. ·Day 5: Classroom presentation in front of classmates.
6.Project Assessment The project will be 15 % of 3rd term mark. The score will be the following ·Writing skill (4) :Grammar, vocabulary, coherence: 2 /1 /1 . · ·Speaking skill (3) : intonation and pronunciation , effort to memorize the text, and target language interaction while doing the project. · ·Artistic ,visual ,technological value (1) :colour,images/photos,links,aesthetical appeal. · ·Cross curricular content (1) : complete,checkedinformation. · ·Extras (1): this can include: creativity,effort, challenge, individual work, team work, etc projectassessmentgrid 13-14.doc

MAKE SURE: a) your text is long enough (150 words for 4.Dbh) b) You hand in draft and final project on due date c) you use the given websites for the core content and not others d) you don't copy and paste any parts of the project from the Internet e) you don't use a translator device or service OR you'll get into trouble!!!!!
