What we set out to do Business Opportunity: • Send all discharge summaries and other relevant communication by direct electronic method from RiO to GP practice systems How? • Build an interface out of RiO • Install EDT Hub • Utilise Docman at the Practice to import documents

The Numbers • 94% of CSH GP Practices are connected to CSH EDT Hub • 2 Practices do not accept electronic communication • 5 Practices use EDT Lite rather than Docman • All CSH services are utilising the functionality through EDT Server from RiO • 30,000 documents sent electronically in the past 10 months • 25,000 discharge summaries • 5,000 clinical correspondence • Direct cost savings per document – 55p (stationery, toner, postage) • Resource savings at CSH (time to print, file and send) – 1,407 hours a year • Resource savings at Practice (time to open post, process and scan) • Payback period on investment – 23 months
