TIME LINE………… • Spring Semester 2008 • Using the Practicum Site Directory online and/or the Blue Binder in Emily’s office: • View practicum sites’ websites for the type of services provided and the population served, application protocol and deadline for application. • School candidates contact a website with all licensed school counselors’ contact information, plus the Blue Binder in Emily’s office. • May 1, 2008 – deadline for submitting ‘Selection of Practicum Site’ form to Dr. Kay Herting Wahl
Timeline continued • Fall 2008 • Everyone must have the practicum site secured and approved by the beginning of the fall semester. • School Candidates must have at least one of their 3 sites secured and approved by the beginning of the fall semester.

Ways to Find Information about Practicum Sites………………….. • Research the Practicum Site binders in Rm 250 Emily’s desk in EdScB for site listings, site evaluations, and site survey results regarding the nature of practicum, qualification of supervisor, practicum hours, etc. Binders need to stay in EdScB. • Check with second yr. masters students. • Practicum Site listings will be emailed to you. • Check the practicum websites for information regarding the practicum sites of interest. • School Counseling can consult the following website: http://intranet.cehd.umn.edu/TargetEd/TargetEd.aspx?appl=CSPP
Ways to Find Information about Practicum Sites………………….. • Check with your advisor or practicum supervisor for site information. • Ask second year M.A. or third year Ph.D. students about their experiences. • Notify Fengqin Lianif information in the site binders is incorrect. • Confirm with the contact person that the site is accepting practicum students for 2008-2009; then confirm that CSPP practicum requirements can be met (hours, supervision, qualified supervisor, taping, etc.)

I am a student at the University of Minnesota pursuing my Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. I am seeking a practicum placement to begin in September of 2005. Before my entry into the program, I worked for several organizations that provided services to families and children. I worked for the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare. While working there, I provided intensive case management to birth parents, children, and foster families. In all, my experiences have varied among working with young children, adolescents, and parents. I have a strong interest in working with all age groups. To meet the degree requirements I need to complete a 700 hour practicum over the span of two semesters. I am looking to work about 23-24 hours per week at my practicum site. I have a flexible schedule. My specific interests include individual and family counseling, prevention, and community outreach. I would also be interested in gaining experience in narrative therapy, group counseling, and psychoeducational groups.
