It was not obvious to me that it was a high school; only the sign, which declared it to be Forks High School, made me stop” (Meyer 12).

  5. Movement • “The nicest car here was a shiny Volvo, and it stood out” (Meyer 14). • “There, behind my truck was a monstrous Jeep. It’s tires were higher than my waist. There were metal guards over the headlights and taillights, and four large spotlights attached to the crash bar” (Meyer 359).

  6. Human-Environment Interaction • “Something silver caught my eye, and I walked to the back of the truck – carefully holding the side for the support – to examine my tires. There were thins chains crisscrossed in diamond shapes around them” (Meyer 55). • “’I brought the jacket for you. I didn’t want you to get sick or something’” (Meyer 197).

  7. Region Formal Region • “My excitement increased exponentially as we actually drove out of city limits. Jess drove faster than the chief, so we made it to Port Angeles by four” (Meyer 151-152).
