  3. Providing tools & skills to assist in managing resources, environmental studies, and planning through the use of GIS. Teaching American Indians how they can become active participants in the NSDI. Leveraging the resources of the tribes to maintain their data sets in Indian Country. Goal: Enable American Indians to Become Self-sufficient by:

American Indian OutreachFGDC Roles and Strategy • Enhance existing partnerships with relevant associations (IGC, UCGIS, NIBA, NSGIC, NAALEA) • Establish partnerships with AIHEC, NIEA, AISES, etc. • Provide focal point for University American Indian Studies programs (ASU, UNC, Dartmouth, etc.) • Collaborate with SIPI to present satellite broadcasts on GIS in Indian Country
