A plumb line is a cord with a lead weight, or plumb, on one end. It is used to determine vertical direction. Because of the earth’s gravity, the plumb will hold the cord straight and perpendicular to the earth. The plumb, sometimes called the plumb bob, is egg- or pear-shaped and comes to a point. When held along the brick wall, a plumb line will show whether the wall is crooked or straight. The Facts, Please!

God meant that he was checking them out to see if they were staying true to him.
