Habitats, Adaptions and Conservation The most awesome habitat-ish, adaptive, conservative presentation EVER!! By Ana and Holly
What is a habitat? A habitat is the place where certain animals live. Not all animals can survive in one habitat, that’s why there are different ones – snowy, sunny, tundra…
Adaptations An animal adapts to suit its habitat. An example is a polar bear’s thick layer of fat that it stores up for winter warmth, because it lives in sub-zero temperatures.
Some examples of animals that have adapted to live in their habitats…
#1: The Camel Hey. • Has spread-out three-toed feet that have extra thick skin to resist the burning sand and for endurance while walking across the desert. • Its eyes have very long lashes to protect its eyes from sandstorms. • In its hump, it has water stored away for hydration.
#2: The Polar Bear Finally! I told him to go get dinner an hour ago! • They have a thick layer of fat for storage in the winter. • Their coats are white to camouflage into their surroundings and catch prey. • They have extremely sharp teeth to eat fast and kill fast.
What is conservation? Conservation is the act of caring for a site – e.g. a river or forest so that it doesn’t face the danger of depletion or complete disappearance.
