CAP Grant Update - Structures • Summary: Purpose: to establish an automated, sustainable means to collect, document, assemble, and distribute landmark/structures data to The National Map for Maryland and the National Capital Region • Partners Include: Baltimore, Frederick, and Montgomery Counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Fairfax County, VA
Data Model • Adopted the best practices data model from the USGS. http://bpgeo.cr.usgs.gov/model/index.html • Working with Doug Adams from Baltimore County to import data into the model. • Working to develop a data dictionary for jurisdictions by pulling together information from multiple sources into one document for the purposes of this grant.
MOU • Working on the draft MOU – in the final stages • Drafted a Letter of Intent for jurisdictions who are not willing or able to sign a MOU
Upcoming Meetings • Thursday October 23rd Towson University CGIS (Proposed Date and Location) • Possible Agenda Topics • USGS representative to walk through the data model and address any questions or concerns. (not confirmed) • Review the results of the Baltimore County Data load. (depending on where we are in the process) • Discuss any possible modifications to the model needed to fill the need of local jurisdictions – one example of a need by Doug Adams alias names for buildings • Develop a plan to work with other jurisdiction to import data into the model
CAP Grant Update - Transportation • Purpose: To establish an automated, sustainable means to collect, document, assemble, and distribute Transportation data to The National Map for the National Capital Region and Frederick County Maryland.

Partners Invited: • District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties MD, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties as well as the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park in Virginia. Status of award: • Award officially received 9/24/08 • Period of performance is 9/1/08 – 9/30/09 Proposed Kickoff • Mid-November (at MWCOG?)
Other Efforts to Leverage: • CGIS is currently finishing a coordinated Road Centerline effort that can be used as a starting point in terms of: • Centerline Data Schema (SHA/MSGIC derived) • Utility to manage the data (ETL software – Extract Transform Load) • Replication process
