  2. Evil is not a thing • Evil is an epistemological problem, not a metaphysical problem • If it were a metaphysical problem, dualism would exist

  3. Evil is derived from good • Evil requires good; good does not require evil • Evil is a parasite • Evil does not precede good, but corrupts good by feeding on it and thereby destroying it

  4. The role of free will in evil • Because evil is not metaphysical, its foundation is not metaphysical • Free will is not metaphysical • God permits evil because God permits free will • Evil is a result of free will

  5. God uses evil for good (Job) • God is the master of all things • God is master of evil • Evil must serve God’s ultimate purpose • Even if we don’t understand how or why • This is the mystery of evil • Conclusion: God uses evil to show that God is the master of evil
