The Purpose of this Series: • What could be so compelling to make a King, who has it all and can reproduce it all at His word, to leave His throne? • Why was it necessary for Him to personally get involved? • What difference does the King’s sacrifice make for you and me? #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
“But very early on the first day of the week they went to the tomb, taking with them the spices that they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb; And, on going into it, they could not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were at a loss to account for this, all at once two men stood beside them, in dazzling clothing. But, when in their fear the women bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them: "Why are you looking among the dead for him who is living? He is not here; but he has risen…” (Luke 24:1-6a TCNT) #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
Three (3) Core Differences the King’s Sacrifice made for You and Me: forever FORGIVEN “And by the law almost all things are made clean with blood, and without blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22 BBE) ““This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.” Hebrews 10:16-18 NLT #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
Nobody is perfect “they” say. However, you don’t have to be, because forgiveness is equal to or better than perfection because it qualifies us for the same reward without consideration of our past or the need for us to do something to earn it. #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
forever FAVORED • Favor – an act of kindness that is extended to you, based upon the regard that someone else has of you. It is an unfair partiality, privileged regard and an esteemed consideration in the heart of someone else for you that causes them to act positively on your behalf. #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
This FAVOR is based upon our position, not our performance. Choose to be in Christ. “But God–so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation). And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One). He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7 AMPC #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
God is committed to treat all of His sons/daughters that are on earth today just like He treats His Son that is in heaven today! FAVOR! What separates the church from religions, philosophies, and belief systems in the world is not our code of conduct, but the One in Whom we live. Many religions have a far more extreme & stringent code of conduct than Christianity. However, Christianity is not based on a code of conduct but on a COVENANT of CONNECTION. #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
“So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?" Romans 8:31-32 MSG #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
forever FREE • “We know very well that we are not set right with God by rule-keeping but only through personal faith in Jesus Christ. How do we know? We tried it—and we had the best system of rules the world has ever seen! Convinced that no human being can please God by self-improvement, we believed in Jesus as the Messiah so that we might be set right before God by trusting in the Messiah, not by trying to be good." • "What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him.” Galatians 2:16, 19-20a MSG #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
"But [that appointed time came] when Christ (the Messiah) appeared as a High Priest of the better things that have come and are to come. [Then] through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with [human] hands, that is, not a part of this material creation, He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us). For if [the mere] sprinkling of unholy and defiled persons with blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a burnt heifer is sufficient for the purification of the body, How much more surely shall the blood of Christ, Who by virtue of [His] eternal Spirit [His own preexistent divine personality] has offered Himself as an unblemished sacrifice to God, purify our consciences from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the [ever] living God?“ Hebrews 9:11-14 AMP #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
Dead works are dead end religious & spiritual activities we perform attempting to achieve God’s acceptance, approval, or reward. • Understanding this… • Don’t focus on doing right to be right, just enjoying being made right in Christ. • Don’t come to church to be good, come to church because you are good. • Don’t avoid sin to be right, avoid sin because you are right. • Don’t confess scriptures to be healed & prosperous, confess scriptures because you are healed and prosperous. • Don’t forgive others to be forgiven, forgive others because you are forgiven. • Don’t give to get blessed, but give because you are blessed. #theKINGWhoLeftHisThrone
