  4. TARGET AUDIENCE: This activity is aimed towards children in grades 5-7. These children work well with hands on things and can understand moderate material. For children this age the need minimum help and work best with well explained ideas where they can ask questions.

  5. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: This activity is designed to be done in class or as an individual and can be accomplished anywhere there is a computer. The environment needs to be a place promoting learning and education and should be a place where the child can focus. The computers need to have the required program on it so that each child can accomplish the task.

  6. OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to complete a 10 question quiz about 3 different Nursery Rhymes with 100% accuracy. They will have learned the Nursery Rhymes and their origins.

  7. ORIENTATION: • Students will be learning about 3 different Nursery Rhymes: • Jack Sprat • 3 Blind Mice • Ring around the Rosie Each slide will produce new information for the student that all leads to a 10 point qui at the end.

  8. MOTIVATION: • Humpty Dumpty is the character chosen to travel through the Nursery Rhymes with the children. He will provide comments and help them along the way.

  9. INFORMATION: • Information used in this activity was gathered from: http://www.rhymes.org.uk/ I chose my Nursery Rhymes and got their history from here.

  10. APPLICATION: • This activity can be used when doing a lesson plan on Nursery Rhymes. It is a good way to test a child’s knowledge on the Nursery Rhymes.

  11. EVALUATION: • You will be able to evaluate how well your students learned the information by how well they did on the final quiz at the end. If you are doing this as a class, the review questions along the way are also a good indicator on how well your students are doing as a class.

  12. STUDENT: You are about to travel through the realm of Nursery Rhymes. Along the way you are going to run into some very unique characters that will help you through your Nursery Rhymes. So to get started click the arrow at the bottom of the screen.

  20. JACK SPRAT Hello, My name is Jack Sprat and I will be traveling with you through my Nursery Rhyme!

  21. JACK SPRAT Jack Sprat could eat no fat, His wife could eat no lean. And so between the two of them, They licked the platter clean. Jack ate all the lean, Joan ate all the fat. The bone they picked clean, Then gave it to the cat. Jack Sprat was wheeling, His wife by the ditch. The barrow turned over, And in she did pitch. Says Jack, “She’ll be drowned”, But Joan did reply. “I don’t think I shall, For the ditch is quite dry”.

  22. JACK SPRAT HISTORY This Nursery Rhyme is based off of the King Charles I and his wife Queen Henrietta Maria. When King Charles (Jack Sprat) declared war on Spain, parliament refused to give him money (leaving him lean). So his wife made an illegal war tax (to get some fat) after the angered King got rid of parliament.

  27. RING AROUND THE ROSIE Ring around the Rosie, A pocket full of posies. Ashes, Ashes, We all fall down.

  28. RING AROUND THE ROSIE HISTORY • Ring around the Rosie is a Nursery Rhyme that was based off a poem on the plague of 1665. The parts of the Nursery Rhyme refer to many things about the black plague. For example “Rosie” refers to the rash that was a symptom of the plague. “Posies” were herbs thought to ward off the disease so people would “carry them in their pockets. “Lastly, the “Ashes, Ashes we all fall down” refers to the deaths of the sick people.

  29. FUN FACT Today, Ring around the Rosie, is a game played by children of all ages where they twirl around in a circle while singing the Nursery Rhyme and at the end they would all fall down.

  36. 3 BLIND MICE HISTORY Three blind mice, is taken from the story of a woman named “Queen Mary I”. Queen Mary (nicknamed “Bloody” Mary), was known fro her persecution of Protestants. The three blind mice, were based off some men who were protestants that were burned at the stake for plotting against the Queen.
