Delivering integrated and seamless care to our local population through: The Midland Metropolitan Hospital (MMH) with all of our emergency and acute inpatient services, provided in up to date facilities with a critical mass of services in one place and a greater concentration of skilled and experienced staff. Development of our outpatient, diagnostic, day surgery and intermediate care services that will remain at the Birmingham Treatment Centre (BTC), Birmingham Midlands Eye Centre (BMEC) and adjacent Sheldon Block, Rowley Regis Hospital and Sandwell Treatment Centre (on the current Sandwell Hospital site). Development of the services we provide in people’s own homes and other community locations i.e. our community services. We will deliver all of these services in partnership with other local organisations. Our future long term model of care
Selected as a pilot for the new PF2 process We are reviewing all our design work for the MMH to ensure we are ready to start (once we have final approval) the process of identifying potential partners to work with us in building MMH. Timeline: Sept & Oct 2013: Architecture Design Refresh working with staff and others including our members Nov & Dec 2013: Obtain approval to start procurement of MMH Oct-Jan 2013:Confirm plans for our future community facilities and start to develop an internal change programme from now until 2020 Summer 2014: Plan to advertise (via OJEU) for potential partners Autumn 2015: Finalise design and partner 2015:Commence construction of MMH 2018/19: MMH Opens Where are we with plans for MMH?
A hospital, which is an asset to the local community reflecting its diverse needs, supporting local regeneration and with enduring design. The human impact of the building will be: Inspirational, attractive and imaginative; Welcoming; Reassuring; Light and airy; Clean without being clinical; Sympathetic to the environment; Fully accessible; Supports privacy and dignity of patients and visitors.
