  8. Pennsylvania’s Use of EVAAS/PVAAS • Given the high-stakes usage, it was important to have a robust methodology that addressed common concerns of working with student testing data, such as: • Students with missing data • Student mobility • Measurement error • It was also important to use an approach that was flexible with regards to current and future testing. • Models for both consecutive-grade given tests (like PSSA math and reading) and non-consecutive-grade given tests (like Keystone EOCs) • Accommodates changing/evolving assessment system • Changes in assessment due to alignment to PA Common Core • Addition of new assessments, like the Keystone end-of-course exams

  9. Pennsylvania’s Use of EVAAS/PVAAS • However, PA wanted teachers to have more than just a score to use on a teacher’s evaluation form. • A system of continuous improvement • District, school, teacher level reporting • Student projections to proficient and advanced levels on future assessments • Value-added and diagnostic assessments • Hosted in a web-based delivery system • All reporting is provided via an interactive website. • Double-level security for access to teacher-specific reporting
