What is the initiative about? • Aligned vision of IOSH London Metropolitan Branch and the Universities • Lead and develop our profession • Meet the needs of practitioners • Promote collaboration and multidisciplinary engagement to develop future OHS practice through research • Address challenges of IOSH Branch members and provide for employability of student practitioners • Start with a pilot research programme in October with MSc student researchers

What involvement is needed? • Collaboration to help define the research agenda relevant to you • Specific Industry Issues • Broader Policy Issues • In-house or specific challenges on the profession • Workshop to be held on September 18th to define, consult upon and draft the agenda • Engagement Opportunities in the research programme- examples: • Student access to workplaces to carry out research • Sharing datasets for use in research • Provision of industry specific information

What will be the benefits and outcomes? • Tailored work to address OHS challenges which concern you and your industry • Academically supported by researchers and practitioners • Cost effective • Building an evidence base from research based on our collective needs to inform future policy • Enhanced student employability skills from industry facing projects • Branch knowledge transfer based on results
