Life Story • Born in Andover, Hampshire; 12th October 1993 • Career in modeling • Katie met Daniel Lynch (martial arts enthusiast) over Facebook • They first met up in Berkshire, being pleased with the way things had turned out • After 2 weeks, Katie and Daniel booked a hotel, for after their meal • In the hotel room, she was raped, beaten and stabbed in the arm • Lynch apologized, and persuaded Katie to go to an internet café, to read an email he’d sent her. • Sylvestreapproached Katie, immediately throwing Sulphuric Acid over her face • Katie was treated at Chelsea and Westminster hospital. • The removal of Katie’s skin, and replacement, was the first ever to be carried out in 1 single operation. • In 2009 Katie revealed herself to increase awareness • She also released a best-selling autobiography, has a column, but mainly works at her charity, Katie Piper Foundation

Operations • 110 operations • Experienced pioneering stem cell surgery • Left eye was blind with no iris • After operations she can see well • All skin from her face hasd to be removed • It was replaced with skin from other body parts • Oesophagus, hard for her to eat
Why Katie Piper? • Not your typical choice • It could be argued: • She’s been unlucky • She’s will live with the consequences • Her life will never be as good as it could’ve been • She isn’t as beautiful as before • She will never forget her awful ordeal • She is scared physically and emotionally • She has overcome her ordeal • She has turned a bad situation into a good one • She has told her story with her head held high • She has started a charity for burns victims • She is a proven inspiration, winning several awards • She has made a huge impact on the burns victim community
