Joined GICH in January 2010 • Initial Perceived Need: Community is lacking a sufficient supply of middle income housing to meet the needs of citizens and to be supportive of economic development efforts. • Data Needed: It was determined additional data was needed to establish if our thoughts were accurate, and to gain a better understanding of our current housing situation.

  3. Data Needed • Housing Inventory (Supply) • River Valley Regional Commission applied for and received a grant for totaling $9,500. • Surveyed 9,834 Addresses • Housing Needs & Desires (Demand) • UGA Housing and Demographics Research Center • Surveying 10,000 citizens in our community.

  4. Housing Needs Analysis • The UGA Housing and Demographics Research Center is surveying roughly 10,000 citizens in the community, determining: • Type of Home • Home Satisfaction • Repair Needs • Renter vs. Owner • Three Survey Types Used: Employee, Student, Housing Authority Resident

  5. HousingInventory Rating 1: Standard Rating 2: Deteriorated Minor Rating 3: Deteriorated Major Rating 4: Dilapidated
