PARCC Tests New tests and teaching tools in English Language Arts/Literacy & Mathematics • Tests worth taking, made up of texts worth reading and problems worth solving • Full of the kinds of questions great teachers routinely ask students • Closely aligned to college- and career-ready standards that prepare students for success after high school

PARCC’s Priorities • Determine whether students are college- and career-ready or on track • Provide tools to assess student learning and support effective instruction during the school year • Generate data, including growth measures, for accountability uses • Report comparable data across schools, districts and states • Use technology to engage students and create efficiencies in test development, administration, scoring and reporting 3

  6. Key Milestones Before PARCC states administer these new tests in 2014–15, they must conduct field tests this spring. Field testing PARCC is launched, governing board meets Test development begins Item types released Sample questions released Operational tests administered
