  2. Mercury Diameter: 4,880 km Mass: 3.30e23 kg Facts: • It received it’s name because it travels across the sky so quickly. • Mercury was known as early as the 3rd millennium BC.

  3. Venus Diameter: 12,103.6 km Mass: 4.869e24 kg Facts: • It’s Greek name is Aphrodite. • It got it’s name because it is the brightest of the planets known to the ancients. • Before people believed Venus orbits the Earth.

  4. Earth Diameter: 12,756.3 km Mass: 5.972e24 kg Facts: • One of the only planets which can sustain life, • There are hundreds of different names for Earth. • It took until the 16th century for people to find out Earth was just another planet.
