  2. INTRODUCTION To Date the Project has been running for three years from its launch on 13 February, 2010. The Implementation process has been in three phases: PHASE I: Project Inception – Actualizing the Appraisal Report to Inception Report, Institutional Mapping, Baseline Surveys and Signing Memoranda of Understanding

  3. INTRODUCTION PHASE II: Project Implementation - Building Capacity Activities; Training MTs, ToTs, Auditors & Farmers. PHASE III: Project Closure & Up-scaling – Impact Assessment & Project Closing Report

FARMER TRAINING Training of Farmers in the Project Commenced in May 2012. • To date 1290 farmers have been trained from Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. • The farmers are being trained on compliance to certification / verification standards of Utz Certified, Rainforest Alliance, 4C Association & Fairtrade. • 1000 Farmers will be 4C verified by the end of March 2013 – from Kabonera cooperative in Uganda

  11. SUMMARY OF CAPACITY BUILDING ACTIVITIES ATTAINED TO DATE

Moving Forward • The Project will accelerate Farmer Training in the remaining two years remaining on the project cycle. • The training strategy will be to train 1440 farmers per quarter every three months or a total of 5760 farmers per year. • Accelerate the Actualization of the IT Portal to capture information on the project activities.

  14. Auditor Training • Accelerate Auditor Training – Drop the lead auditor training component and concentrate on the auditors’ course and field training only

  15. CERTIFICATION / VERIFICATION OF FARMERS • 1000 farmers will be 4C verified by the end of March 2013 from Kabonera Cooperative in Uganda. • Other two cooperatives under NUCAFE will be 4C verified by December 2013.
