Marine Biome Research By Brianna Black
Name of BiomeGeography & Climate • Location- Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Southern Oceans • Description- The ocean is divided up into three zones the top layer is called the euphotic zone, the next layer is called the disphotic layer, and the last layer is called aphotic zone this is the deepest layer • Soil Type- Salt water and Sand • Precipitation- The marine biome has a big influence on the terrestrial climate, it provides rain for crops through evaporation • Temperature Range- 39 degrees F (4 degrees C) • Climate- the surface of the water is warm from the sun but deep down it is cold.
Marine Biodiversity • One million have already been discovered but up to nine million exist and haven't been. • Plant Species- algae, kelp, and phytoplankton • Animal Species- mollusk, fish, whales, crusatations, bacteria, fungi, and sea anemone
Marine Adaptations Needed for Survival • Plant- Through photosynthesis marine plants and algae provide much of the worlds oxygen supply and take in huge amounts of carbon dioxide • Animals- Some have blubber to survive in cold weather
Marine Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic • Biotic • Abiotic- kelp absorbs energy from waves that can hit the shoreline
What is Biodiversity? • Biodiversity is the variety of life. Most people recognize biodiversity by species. Identifying and understanding the relationship between all the life on earth are some of the greatest challenges in life.
How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? • Biodiversity allows us to live a happy and healthy life. It provides an array of foods.
