  1. Photoelectric effect To do • In pairs discuss what you think the photoelectric effect is using the phrase itself to help you. • Be prepare to share your ideas and yoru reasoning.

  2. Photoelectric Effect Lesson Objective Learning Outcomes Grade E Describe what the photoelectric effect is Grade C Explain how the photoelectric effect happens Calculate variables in the transfer equation Grade A Apply ideas about the photoelectric effect to different situations in a variety of contexts • To be able to explain what the photo-electric effect is

  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO38qVDGgqw

  4. To do: Write a short paragraph to explain what happens

  5. A photoelectron is emitted from a metal plate with a velocity of 8.7 x 106 ms-1 towards a target plate. Both plates are in a vacuum. The potential of the target plate is 1.3V lower than the potential of the emitting plate.(a) Describe what happens to the electron (Use a calculation to discuss the energy changes that occur)(b) Calculate the stopping potential required for this particular electron(c) Explain why it is important that the plates are within a vacuum.
