INTRODUCTION • Social issues effect society they are very topical, they effect a wide spectrum of the society they are many problems that arise from social issues , they are not easily solved but there are measures and strategies that can be implemented . One of these social issues is juvenile delinquency.
WHAT IS JUVENILE DELINQUENCY ? • the habitual committing of criminal acts or offences by a young person, especially one below the age at which ordinary criminal prosecution is possible.
WHY IS IT A SOCIAL ISSUE? • It is considered a social issue because it affects the society and its members. It causes family problems as it may involve physical and emotion problems that are difficult to deal with.
WHAT ARE FOUR REASONS IT IS DIFFICULT TO SLOVE? • When a teen is a juvenile delinquent this usually means they have a lot of problems. Sometimes these problems may be hard to fix. if a teen grew up in an abusive household or wit family problems they may be longing for attention . To solve this the parents also need to change which might be difficult • Because of movies and videos in today's society they might be influenced by the wrong things which they would think is right and it would be difficult to change their way of thinking after.
Another reason is peer pressure as other teens would influence other teens with problems to drink or smoke. • May think that parents do not understand what they are going through so it would be difficult for parent s to relate to children when they have problems.
WHAT ARE FOUR WAYS IT AFFECTS THE SOCIETY? • These crimes harm the owners of the stores or property where they occur, as well as creating extra work for the people who have to clean, repair and restock after the crimes have been committed. These specific crimes can also make the areas where they occur look less pleasing. • Community members may worry that young people involved in vandalism or destruction of property may try to fight with them if the community members interrupt them, while store owners might fear that they will be attacked by scared young people who are trying to steal.
Young people who commit crimes occasionally follow the same patterns as adult criminals, slipping back into old habits after they are released from juvenile hall or other incarceration. This can lead to an increase in overall crime as youth offenders become adult offenders. • Young children now growing up might see now these teenagers are getting on an start to act the same.
FOUR WAYS IN WHICH IT AFFECT THE FAMILY? • Its affects the family financially because they may need to pay for consolers and also if they child steels something they have to pay for it especially if it is expensive and if the child is arrested for some reason and bail need to be paid . • It may affect the family emotionally as they will have to deal with the way their children are behaving when may cause pain in the family.
It may affect the family physically as some teens can become abusive and parent might turn to alcohol, drugs or lack sleep which can show physically. • This can also cause the split of family members cause a lot of pain for the teen and the family.
WHAT ARE 5 STRATEGIES USED BY THE GOVERNMENT TP DEAL WITH JUVENILE DELINQUENCY? • the government can have consolers placed in to help troubled teens. • The government can place classes in schools to help students in making better decisions. • They can have community centers to when trouble teens can go an play games and take about their problems with others.
they can have programs to teach parents how to deal with their children.. • The government can provide rehab centers for teens who have already been involved in this.
WHAT ARE 3 WAYS THE MEDIA CAN USE TO HELP REDUCE THE EFFECTS OF IT? • Television producers can play programs that shows what happens to juvenile delinquent teens. • The radios can play more inspirational songs an not ones that promote violence, drugs and alcohol. • They can have parental guidance columns in the news papers to help parents raise their children properly.
