  15. What We’re Working On Protecting and Expanding Bipartisan Support for Global Anti-Poverty Efforts Second half of this year our focus will be to. . . • GROW BIPARTISAN SUPPORT for the Global Partnership for Education in Congress in the lead up to their replenishment at the beginning of 2018. • RE-BUILD BIPARTISAN SUPPORT for the Reach Every Mother and Child Act to build momentum to pass the bill. 16. Challenge: Around the world, a staggering 263 million children and youth are out of school, and tens of millions more can’t read a single sentence. Opportunity: Coming together through the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the world has a chance to change course. GPE aims to raise $3.1 billion in new funding so that countries can provide a quality education for over 25 million more children by 2020. At the RESULTS IC, we’ll launch our GPE replenishment campaign to get the U.S. to commit support for GPE. Ask members of Congress to co-sponsor a new bipartisan GPE Resolution (H.Res. 466 in House, pending in Senate) to build attention and commitment to improving access and quality of education for children worldwide. 17. The Reach Every Mother and Child Act Challenge: Globally, over 16,000 children and 800 mothers die of mainly treatable and preventable causes each day, but we have the tools to change that. Opportunity: Ending preventable child and maternal deaths is now a global goal, but U.S. efforts to drive down leading killers of moms and kids must be better coordinated, targeted to reach the poorest, and focus on high-impact, evidence-based interventions. Bipartisan and bicameral legislation called the Reach Every Mother and Child Act has now been introduced in the Senate (S. 1730) and is expected in the House. It lays out a clear roadmap for supporting developing countries to save 15 million children’s lives and 600,000 women’s lives by 2020. Ask members of Congress to co-sponsor the bipartisan Reach Act to create lasting reforms at USAID and to build momentum for ending preventable child and maternal deaths. RESULTS National Webinar

  24. Engage the Audience: I recently read the case for investment for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). It made me realize how fortunate we are to have access to quality education from pre-school through college. State the Problem: I've learned that 263 million children and youth around the globe who should be in school are not. I imagine what they all could achieve for themselves, their nations, and the world if they all had the opportunity to become educated as we do.  Inform on a Solution: The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is working to give more children the education they deserve. From 2018 to 2020, GPE plans to get over 25 million additional kids in the classroom for the first time, and improve the quality of learning and the school experience for millions of others. But this must be a global effort and U.S. support will be critical to leveraging additional leadership from other countries.  Call to Action: We know the senator/representative understands the power of education. Will you cosponsor the bipartisan Global Partnership for Education Resolution led by Representatives Dave Reichert (R-WA) and Nita Lowey (D-NY) in support of the GPE replenishment? Laser Talk: Ask Congress to Cosponsor the GPE Resolution RESULTS National Webinar
