Imperial College Status for SC3 Owen Maroney UK Service Challenge 3 Phone Conference May 12th
Imperial (London Tier-2) • SRM status • Installing dCache SRM on test nodes • Configuration very complex! • Hope to move to dedicated production server RealSoonNow™ • Issues need resolving: • Which ports need to be open through firewall • Using pools as VO filespace quotas • Optimum local network topology • Expected communications between: admin node, pool nodes, farm nodes outside world. • Experiment (CMS) software • Phedex deployed, but not tested • PubDB in process of deployment • Some reconfiguration of farm was needed to install CMS analysis software • What else is necessary? Lack of communication from CMS. UK preparation report for SC3
Imperial (London Tier-2) • Storage capacity • 1.5TB CMS storage available for SC3 • 1.5TB for all other VOs. May be partially available • Potential 0.5TB other space may be made available • May purchase more if needed • BUT NEED TO KNOW IF THIS WILL BE THE CASE!!! • Network capacity • Farm on 100Mb connection. • 1Gb connection to all servers. • Bottleneck: 400Mb firewall. • Two separate firewall boxes can use both • Or upgrade to 1Gb firewall UK preparation report for SC3

Imperial (London Tier-2) • Questions: • How much storage will we need? • Which additional experiment specific services need deploying? • (eg. Databases?) • What additional grid middleware is needed • eg. FTS? • What are the full set of pre-requisites before SC3 can start • Eg. Monte Carlo generation and pre-distribution • Metadata catalogue preparation • What defines success? UK preparation report for SC3
