The first annual Drowsy Driving Prevention Week takes place from November 5-11, 2007, aiming to educate the public about drowsy driving and provide preventative measures to avoid fatigue-related crashes in the future. The campaign focuses on saving the lives of young drivers by raising awareness of the dangers of drowsy driving and advocating for preventative measures at the state level. National, state, and local partnerships distribute messages and resources to build a grassroots network of advocates working to prevent drowsy driving. The campaign targets various at-risk groups, including teens, college-age students, commercial drivers, and shift workers, offering tools for sleep disorders assessment and care. Resources include educational materials, fact sheets, quizzes, video testimonials, PSAs, and a parent/teen safe driver contract. The campaign culminates with a relaunch of the website www.drowsydriving.org, providing extensive information on drowsy driving, public policy, human interest stories, and a memorial page for loved ones lost in drowsy driving crashes. Online communities and grief counseling resources are also available. Join Drowsy Driving Prevention Week and make a difference today!
