  2. Who Am I? • A Fellow • A Student • A Musician • An Advocate

What does JAG do? • “…dedicated to advancing and celebrating the art of jazz through performance and education” • Jazz Arts Group is “a performing ensemble; a presenter; an educational entity; and a liaison between professional musicians and clients.” • The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) serves as the flagship ensemble of JAG, and presents a wide variety of big-band concerts throughout the year.

  4. What is JazZoo? • JazZoo! is a collaboration between JAG and The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. • JazZoo! incorporates the best of both organizations; the big-band swing of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and the wild and fun spirit of the Zoo.

  5. What did I do? • Corresponded with JazZoo! guest artists • Organized table reservation data for all 4 shows • Executed experiential enhancements for concert-goers • Served as a temporary administrator at the Jazz Academy

Why does this matter? • According to the Americans for the Arts study “Arts & Economic Prosperity III,” the not-for-profit industry leads to increased economic development, and strengthens social capital. • The ever-increasing need for non-profit services in our country perpetuates the need for the growth of these organizations. • It is imperative that arts organizations and other non-profits act creatively to survive in challenging economic times – so that they may continue to provide community growth and enrichment.
