NCLB Teacher Equity Plan Michigan’s teacher equity plan has been developed based on the teacher equity template provided to states by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The plan includes information, outcomes and strategies around the following eight elements: • Data Reporting Systems • Teacher Preparation • Out-of-Field Teaching • Recruitment and Retention • Professional Development • Specialized Knowledge & Skills • Working Conditions • Policy Coherence
Data Reporting Systems Element 1 – Continue to refine the Registry of Education Personnel (REP) to correctly: • report teacher assignments • track the number and percentage of classes taught by HQ teachers • track the number and percentage of classes taught by experienced teachers

MiTAP Overview • First Round (99 LEAs) March 15, 2007 – June 15, 2007 • Second Round (172 LEAs) July 1, 2007 – September 30, 2007 • Third Round (231 LEAs) October 1, 2007 – January 31, 2008 • Fourth Round (89 LEAs) March 1, 2008 – May 31, 2008 • Fifth Round (239 LEAs) September 2, 2008 – January 31, 2009 • All LEAs have been visited upon the completion of the fifth round. • Sixth Round (75 LEAs scheduled) March 1, 2009 – June 8, 2009 (in progress)
