ITU-T: How it works 1. What is ITU-T • The market forces ITU-T to stay competitive • ITU-T is fast to • start work: 1 day / few weeks (from 2-4 yrs) • approve work: 2 months (from 4 yrs) • “Speedy Gonzalez approval procedure” for technical standards (=95% of work) • publish work: couple of days after approval (from 2-4 yrs) • ITU-T standardizes hot topics • ITU-T is very flexible & unbureaucratic TSAG Newbie Session, 12-16 July 2004

Duties of WTSA-04 2. WTSA • Adopt working methods & procedures • Consider reports by Study Groups & TSAG including Questions proposed for next study period • Approve, modify, reject draft Recs. • SGs will not, in general, submit technical draft Recs. for approval TSAG Newbie Session, 12-16 July 2004

WTSA • Approve work program • Decide to maintain, terminate, or establish Study Groups and allocate to them the Questions to be studied • Appoint Chair and Vice-chairs of Study Groups and TSAG • TSB will issue Circular Letter after TSAG-04 to request Members to provide candidates of Chairmen/VC of Study Groups • Current Chairmen/VC can be re-elected for a 2nd term TSAG Newbie Session, 12-16 July 2004
