The Story of Christmas: 2000 years ago in Bethlehem lived a couple named Mary and Joseph. God came to Mary and spoke through an Angel telling her “ DO not be afraid!” for she was to miraculously give birth to the son of God. Mary was a pure virgin and chosen by God. Jesus was born when his parents were traveling and there was no rooms in a Inn or hotel, so his parents were given a stable as shelter. Jesus was born in a humble place amongst animals and some shepherds that came form the fields to worship him (The shepherds came from a nearby field where an angel of God appeared to them telling them of Jesus’s birth). Three men from other countries studied the stars (Three Wise Men or Magi)and God told them to use the stars as a map or guide to find baby Jesus. They later brought Jesus gifts, of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.Jesus Christ is the son of God made into man’s form. His birth was miraculous and this is the true meaning of Christmas! Jesus lived until 33 years old, he healed the sick and helped many people while on earth, until he was killed upon a cross for all the world’s sin, and buried, then resurrected!- but that is another holiday, Resurrection Day or Easter!! Matthew 1:18-25
Christmas Trees! An Angel or star is placed at the top of the tree, as to symbolize the star that lead the three wise men to Jesus, or the Angel that told the shepherds in the field about baby Jesus. Below the tree, presents are place for Christmas morning. Family members buy gifts for each other. We give gifts because the three wise men gave baby Jesus gifts. We decorate the tree with handmade decorations, popcorn, lights, or store bought ornaments.
