All the species of genus plasmodium are known as Malaria parasite as they cause the disease Malaria. • Leveran, a french army surgeon first discover this parasite in 1880 in the blood of Malaria patient . • Ronald Ross , an Indian millitary doctor found the parasite are transmitted by female anopheles mosquito to human in 1898. INTRODUCTION AND DISCOVERY

The life history of plasmodium vivax occurs in two hosts , so it is digenetic. 1.The man is the primary host . 2.Female Anofheles mosquito is the secondary or intermediate host . • The life cycle is completed in two phase 1. Asexual phase occuring in man 2. Sexual phase occuring in female Anopheles mosquito LIFE CYCLE OF PLASMODIUM VIVAX
Asexual phase consists of a number of stages • Infection stage ( Inoculation) • Liver schizogony stage @ Pre erythrocytic phase @ Exo-erythrocytic phase • Erythrocyticschizogony stage @ Trophzoite phase @ Signet-ring phase @ Amoeboid phase @ Schizont phase @ Formation of gamatocytes (Microgametes & Macro gamates). Asexual phase in man
It includes a number of stages • Ingestion by mosquito • Gametogony (Microgamates and Macrogametes ). • Fertilisation • Ookinate • Encystment • Sporogony Sexual cycle (sporogony) in f.a. Mosquito
