  1. Genre & Origin - Bachata dancing was originated in the Dominican Republic. - It’s a four-step beat with a walking Cuban hip motion.

  3. Meaning of the Music • The bachata is usually romantic. The dances are about heartbreak or sadness.

  4. Historical significance • There are bachata festivals all over the U.S. San Francisco has annual Bachata International Festivals.

  5. Bachata Artists • Aventura- We Broke the Rules-2002 • José Manuel Calderón- the first Dominican musician to record Bachata.

  6. Interesting Fact -Bachata’s original term was amargue, which means bitterness.
