  1. Sound – tv studio Tips for Students wanting to learn about the Broadcast Module

  2. Introduction – HELLO! • Welcome to the Broadcast Module – you will have lots of fun BUT only if the group effort is put in • If you feel nervous about anything within the TV studio, please don’t hesitate to ask me in person or by my email (which I check ALL THE TIME!) – jc2ar@hotmail.com • Let’s get some work started! 

  3. Sound • Sound is essential as is the visuals – the quality of sound needs to be just as high… • The right equipment is needed for the studio and it is important you know what you need… • YOU MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE!– this saves you lots of time… • MEDIA LOAN SHOP: • 4 Talkbacks • 4/5 Headphones • 4/5 XLR cables • Tie Clip Mic • Boom Pole Mic

  4. Sound Tips • To save you time, assign two or three people to collect the equipment from the Media Loan Shop • Once you have the equipment, help each other out in setting it up as every minute in the studio is going by! • Health and Safety rules apply – cables tidy or gaffer tape for long messy cables – hold boom microphone firmly with both hands

  5. Setting Up… • Connect the XLR cables starting with one end that goes in the sound wall (port 2) and the other end to your first talkback (connected to camera 1) • Attach another XLR cable for the headphones – and move on to the next set of talkbacks repeating the two steps • Set it up like a daisy chain – the XLR cable for the floor managers talkback doesn’t need to be connected to the sound wall

  6. ENJOY! Please notify me if you have any questions about this Broadcast Module! jc2ar@hotmail.com
