Evolution Notes 03/14-03/16
Goals for inquiry activity 3/14-3/16 • Be able to list the 3 major parts of the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (C-E-R) model and explain each part • Be able to create and evaluate a scientific explanations. • Be able to evaluate Darwin’s theory of evolution and other scientific theories based on the C-E-R model.
The C-E-R model • The Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (C-E-R) model is designed to help us understand how scientists develop quality scientific explanations. • Understanding how scientists think and how they develop their explanations and theories is important to understanding science itself.
Goals for the Chapter • Learn about the Theory of Evolution and evidence that is used to support this theory • Understand the development of this theory in the context of a historical timeline • Develop critical thinking skills that help us examine evidence for ALL theories.
Question of the Day • What is the model we have been using the last two days that is a model for creating a good scientific explanation? • List one thing that each of these pieces needs to do, or to be.
