Your country’s specialty: • Your country’s specialization is creating figures out of play-doh. • You are in competition to see which country can be the most productive with the resources that you have. • There are many rules you must follow to succeed…
Snake Rules • You will be making snakes and doughnuts as your products. • Snakes must be as long as an unsharpened pencil to ensure quality. • Snakes can be made into doughnuts, but they must be able to fit around the bottom of the can of Play-doh. • You must have AT LEAST one snake made for each round. • You will have 45 seconds for each round of production. • All play-doh must go back in the tub with the top on after each round.

Getting Paid • Snakes-you will get paid $1 for every snake you make that is regulation size • Doughnuts- you will get paid $2 for every doughnut that fits around the bottom of the can
Paying the Workers • You must pay your labor! • Each worker will get paid $1 for the labor performed in that 45 seconds. • Pass out the money to the workers-you may not count that in your total profits. • You must pay every round.
Taxes • Taxes are as certain as death-you must pay!! • The tax collector (Ms. Rawley) is coming around to collect $5 from each group-pay up!
Trade • You may begin to trade colors with other countries on the next round. • You will get paid more for the variety of colors within your snakes and doughnuts.
Show me the money! • For snakes and doughnuts with two different colors will get paid $2 per snake and $3 per doughnut • Three colors- $3/snakes and $4/doughnut • Four colors- $4/snakes and $5/doughnut • Five colors- $5/snakes and $6/doughnuts
Key Vocabulary • Specialization is being an expert on a certain area of the work. Did your group use specialization? • Voluntary exchange is the process of willingly trading with another when both parties benefit from the exchange. Did your group engage in voluntary exchange during the game? Did it help or hurt you?
Key Vocabulary • Productivity accomplishing the most you possibly can in the time you are given. Do you feel that your country was productive when making your snakes and doughnuts? How could you have been more productive? • Trade occurs between countries when they give a resource to receive another. Did you trade during the game?
