Seating Explanation • Gandhi and Plato were intelligent, revolutionary people. Because of these similar characteristics, they were sat together. • Akbar and Gandhi were known for inspiring the people of their country, so they were sat next to each other. • Both Gorbachev and Akbar sought to better their country, and therefore were sat together to discuss their plans to improve their nations. • King Ferdinand and Gorbachev both brought significant change to their countries, so they were sat together. • Lenin and Ferdinand were both leaders of revolutions in their countries. Because they are sat together they can compare their ideas and plans. • Stalin and Lenin were both communist leaders of Russia, so they were sat together. • King Henry VIII and Stalin were both tyrannical leaders. This similar personality trait caused us to sit them next to each other. • Plato and Henry VIII were both westerners who brought revolutionary ideas to their nations. • Gorbachev could not be sat near Stalin or Lenin, as he abandoned the communist ideas they had set forth. • Ferdinand could not be sat near Henry VIII, as Ferdinand was a die-hard catholic, and Henry VIII created a new branch of Christianity.

Food Explanation • Stalin’s diet included mostly pickles and meat. Many Russians ate meat. Gorbachev and Lenin are eating the same thing because all of the foods were traditional Russian meals. Gandhi’s doctor made him follow a strict diet of lots of dairy, wheat, and rice. This would explain why he is drinking milk and eating cheese along with wheat. Akbar’s diet consisted mostly of the same thing as Gandhi. He ate lots of wheat and rice as well. Plato’s favorite foods were fruits and fish. So at this meal he will be served salmon and a variety of berries. King Henry VIII loved to eat traditional England duck. To go along with that he was a huge fan of pie. King Ferdinand is eating Spanish soup and a Spanish omelet at dinner. These were also Spanish recipes enjoyed by many.
Music • Joseph Stalin- The Sacred War, by AleksandrAleksandrov was a Soviet patriotic song, which was written per request of Joseph Stalin himself • Mahatma Gandhi- Vaishnaya Jana to, by Narsinh Mehta, was a very popular song, which Gandhi included in his daily prayers. • Akbar- Raga Desi, by the Dagars is a dhrupad style song, which Akbar preferred in his courts during his rule. • Mikhail Gorbachev- Poi Segue, by the Ganelin Trio, a popular jazz song that was very popular in 1970s-1980s Russia. • Vladimir Lenin- Fireworks (Opus 4), by Igor Stravinsky, is a famous composition by Stravinsky, who was a favorite composer of Lenin. • Plato- The Odyssey - Movement I (The Iliad) by Robert W. Smith was one of the many compositions that Plato enjoyed greatly. • King Henry VIII- Pastyme with Goode Companye, written by himself, was often played in his courts. • King Ferdinand II- QuesDe Ti Desconcolado, by Juan del Enzina, was a popular song in Spain during Ferdinand’s rule, and was one of his favorites.
Accomplishments (Part I) • Joesph Stalin: - Established the Soviet Union - Outlined the first Five Year Plans - Propelled the USSR to a great industrial and military power • Mahatma Gandhi: - Successful Lawyer in South Africa - Led 200 mile “Salt March” to protest against British -Leader of Indian Independence Movement • Akbar: - Established Mughal Empire - Had many professions including artist, general, blacksmith, and animal trainer, to name a few. -Tripled the size of the empire during his rule • Mikhail Gorbachev: - Awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 - Ended dominance of communist party in the Soviet Union - Created advanced nuclear weapon program
Accomplishments (Part II) • Vladimir Lenin: - Founding father of Soviet Union - Established world’s first Marxist nation after Russian Revolution of 1917 - Sought peace and prosperity • Plato: - Very successful mathematician - Wrote “The Republic” - Also wrote 26 other philosophies • King Henry VIII: - Founded the Church of England - Enhanced British monarchy by creating sense of nationalism - Built or remodeled over 70 palaces throughout England • King Ferdinand II: - Ended Muslim rule of Spain - Sponsored Christopher Columbus’ trips to the Americas -Brought the two most powerful kingdoms in Spain together
