  1. Chapter 4.1: Scatter Plots

  2. Lesson 4.1: Scatter Plots

  3. Make a scatter graph to represent the following data: 1. Identify the values corresponding to the horizontal axis and label axis 2. Identify the values corresponding to the Vertical axis and label axis 3. Choose an appropriate scale for both axis 4. Graph each point 5. Choose an appropriate title for the graph

  4. Make a scatter graph to represent the following data:

  5. Plan scatter graph to fit the data: Hourly Pay 40 35 30 25 Pay in Dollars 20 15 10 5 2 6 4 8 Hours

  6. Make a scatter graph to represent the SAME data on the graphing calculator: 1. Clear Calculator 2. – EDIT (Press so you can enter the ordered pairs into the calculator). 3. Enter all of the x-values in List 1. (Press after each one.) 4. Enter all of the y-values in List 2. (Press after each one.) 5.Check to be sure that all of the ordered pairs are correct.

  7. Graphing calculator continues: 6.Go to STAT PLOT (Press ) #1 • Turn on Plot 1. • Select the type as disconnected dots. • Identify where to find the x-list and the y-list. (L1, L2, etc. can be found as the 2nd function of the 1, 2, etc. keys.) • Choose the mark.

  8. Graphing calculator continues: 7. Press Set the window (based upon the ordered pairs you are using). x-min = smallest x value on x-axis x-max = largest x value on x-axis y-min = smallest y value on y-axis y-max = largest y values on x-axis 8.

  9. Make a scatter graph to represent the SAME data on the graphing calculator: Hourly Pay Pay in Dollars Hours

  10. Plan scatter graph to fit the data: Students errors on Test 1 8 6 Number of errors 4 2 6 5 8 2 3 4 7 1 Students
