Global Implementation Initiative • The vision for the Global Implementation Initiative is to create coherent and integrated approaches to implementation by 2020 • GIC 2011 is the first step in a coordinated global effort to rapidly advance implementation practice, policy, and science
GIC 2011 • GIC 2011 is an experiment • Is there a critical mass of implementation interest and effort in the world?
Who are we? N = 750 • 67% Women • 33% Men
Where do we come from? US = 70%; 42 States and DC
GIC 2011 • GIC 2011 is an experiment • Is there sufficient information to begin thinking of implementation as a separate discipline? • Can participants create the content for a global conference? • Announce the opportunity and wait for the world to respond • 180 Presentations!
GIC 2011 • GIC 2011 is an experiment • Would Practice Groups provide space for meaningful dialogue? • Are theme-based Presentation Clusters a good way to display knowledge, find common ground, and forge relationships?
GIC 2011 • GIC 2011 is an experiment • Approach Sponsors • Who will be there? • What is the content? • What are the expected products to advance the field? • Sponsors believe in the cause as much as we do – step into the murky abyss of possibility!
GIC 2011 as of Today • We have new colleagues across countries and disciplines • We have found common ground within and across our disciplines • We have affirmed that implementation is the “tie that binds” • Implementation brought us here • Implementation has kept us engaged for a long 2 ½ days
GIC 2011-2013 Goals • Establish collaborations with colleagues you met at GIC 2011 • Work together to advance the implementation field and prepare to report your progress at GIC 2013 • The future of implementation depends upon you and what you do when you leave here • We have some data
