  36. FACS College and Career Ready “Best Practices”FCCLA Award Application • Family and Consumer Sciences programs throughout Alabama are organized within Career Clusters, Career Pathways, and Career Programs. The Alabama Association Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will be awarding $100 stipends to five Family and Consumer Sciences FCCLA Advisors who share their “best practices” in providing a career-focused curriculum. A completed application with supporting documentation of “best practices” must be submitted to the state office by May 15, 2012, to be considered for receiving a stipend. All participating advisors will receive a certificate of recognition for participating in this project. The advisors receiving the five highest scores will each be awarded the $100 stipend and will receive additional recognition from various venues. The advisor with the highest score along with their CTE Administrator, Principal, and local Superintendent will be the luncheon guests of the FCCLA Association as a way of celebrating the “best practices” related to college and career readiness implemented and marketed within their local school district.

  37. Official Rules • For an application to be considered, the following rules must be adhered to: • The local FCCLA chapter must be nationally affiliated with Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. A copy of the chapter’s national affiliation form must accompany the application. • Three career-focused project-based learning (PBLs) modules must be developed using the attached form and implemented during the 2011-2012 academic school year. • Applications and PBLs must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 pitch, and black ink. Only typed applications and PBLs will be considered.

  38. Official Rules Continued • Applications should be concise, but contain as much detail as possible. Include in the application, marketing techniques used in the school and community promoting how the FACS program is preparing students for college-and-career readiness. • The applications will be judged based on the information included on the application and the PBL modules used in the instructional program to prepare college-and-career ready students. Entries must be submitted on the official application form. Newspaper clippings, project photos and other media sources may be attached on 8 ½” x 11” papers for each career-focused PBL module. Emphasis will be placed on the quality of documentation not the quantity.
