The Three Institutions Ordained of GodSo, what purposes does God have for: • To be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, Gen.1:27-28a • To subdue and rule over it, Gen.1:28b • To provide for his own, and to share with others in need, 1Tim.5:8 and Eph.4:28 • To bring up children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, Eph.6:4 • And in a “big picture” kind of way, to build and maintain a spiritual legacy of righteousness and justice, Gen.18:19. Government? • Each institution God ordained has a specified purpose. • Though there may be some minor overlapping, none should endeavor to fulfill any purpose but its own. • Though we, as individuals, have responsibilities toward each of these institutions, we must be able to distinguish our roles in them separately.
