Key Goals of the INN Evaluation Project • Identify, inventory and evaluate all planned, in-process or completed county evaluations of MHSA Innovation projects. • Use information obtained from the inventory and evaluation to identify and document promising evaluation practices. • Develop and disseminate tools and provide technical assistance to support counties to conduct effective and successful evaluations
CIBHS Approach and Principles • Collaboration and Coordination! (OAC, Advisory group, county staff, etc.) • Sharing Results – facilitating learning! • Integrity – rigorous data collection processes
Key Activities/Products and Timelines • Report of Proposed Inventory Method and Research/Evaluation Design: Draft Under Review • Inventory of County-Level Innovation Evaluations (due 10/31/14) – delay expected • Report of Research/Evaluation Results and Promising Practices (due 12/31/14) delay expected • Develop and Provide Tools, Training, and Technical Assistance to Counties (over the course of the project) • Report of Innovation Evaluation Policy Recommendations (due 2/28/15)
Update 1: “The Universe” • Matrix updated with pre-survey results (learning objectives, timelines, evaluation status, etc.) • Includes sites approved by end of FY 13-14 • A Total of 164 Innovation Projects • 53 counties
Update 2: Surveys • Two Surveys in development: 1.Gather details on the evaluation components of each project 2. Gather details on how results are/have been disseminated • Survey still in draft pending pilot site, Advisory Group and OAC staff feedback • Data collection to start at the end of September, 2014
. . . What is to come . . . • Survey Data Analysis – aggregate statistical and qualitative data analyses of survey responses • Report of findings • Based on needs and gaps identified, CIBHS will develop TA resources and provide TA to counties • Policy recommendation report
. . . impressions so far. . . • Lots of great projects, with unique innovative components • Many projects in second or third year of implementation • Mix between external and internal evaluators • Mix of large and small counties participating – great diversity!
