Grade 11 types of courses (some different from gr. 10) • Open (O) – same as gr. 9/10 • Workplace preparation (E) – locally developed in gr. 9/10 • College preparation (C) – applied in gr. 9/10 • University preparation (U) – academic in gr. 9/10 • College/University preparation (M) - new in gr. 11 English and Math are compulsories for every gr. 11 student You may also need a group 1/2/3 course if not covered in gr. 9 or 10

Co-operative Education • Earn credits by learning at work • Develop job-related skills and explore possible destinations • (COP 4XC) 4 credits = all day, 1 semester, 4 credits • FOR SHSM ONLY (COP 2XC) 2 credits - afternoons , 1 semester

SHSM - Business Interested students should have already attended the information session in December and signed up for the program (if not and you are interested, see Ms. Sharma in business to determine if still possible) Required Courses for a SHSM in Grade 11: • 2 Grade 11 Business Studies Courses • 1 Math Course • Additional Requirements – 2 – 4 credits in Co-op (recommended to be completed through Central Peel SS) * Will complete additional certifications throughout gr. 11
SHSM– Physical Education Stay Tuned as CPSS is awaiting approval to a new SHSM in Physical Education – if/once approved, Gr. 10 students will be invited to an information session to sign up
Things to Think About During Course Selection • With ‘Full Disclosure’, Universities and Colleges will receive all of your grade 11 course marks. • Plan to have all compulsory requirements done (except for gr. 12 English) by the end of grade 11 – including Group 1, 2, and 3. • Two grade 11 Phys. Ed. at the ‘open level’ are permitted – just remember they are ‘open level’ and not recognized by universities and colleges
Myths Corrected • Universities DO NOT CARE whether you have extra college, open or workplace credits on your record – only that you have a minimum of 6 GRADE 12 U or M courses • RESEARCH pre-requisites for university/college: many programs DO NOT require grade 12 math
Course Selection Process ONLINE – choose courses through your High School Planner on myblueprint.ca/peel START PLANNING NOW and SUBMIT ONCE THE BUTTON IS ENABLED!!! The online site for course selection will open from Jan 30 – Feb 8 only!! The Submit Courses button - will appear on your Home Page in the Course Selection box on the left of the page when course submission is “enabled” (The button will say Plan Courses if course submission is “disabled”)
Course Selection Process DO NOT click the Submit button unless you are absolutely sure about the courses you have chosen Ready to submit? • Between Jan 30 – Feb 8, click Submit Courses and follow the instructions • When your courses have been submitted, you will be “locked out” and unable to make changes
