3. WHAT IS FULL RING? • Full ring is simply poker played with 9 or 10 players, as opposed to 6 • It is also referred to as “10-max” or “9-max”

6. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT? • Full ring does play quite differently to 6-max • Full ring is: • Tighter • Less aggressive • Less “wild” • More straightforward • In general, the players are worse (at small stakes) • Because everyone’s playing 6-max!

WHY PLAY FULL RING? • Variance in full ring is less intense than 6-max • You will in general face less difficult decisions • If you like to remove the “gambling” from poker • (as much as is realistically possible!) • If you like a steady uphill grind rather than a rollercoaster • (and are willing to sacrifice some EV for this) • If you are a beginner and want to keep it simple for now

8. WHY PLAY FULL RING? • You will need to be well versed in full ring: • If you play tournaments • If you want to play in a real-world casino • If you want to learn to crush your homegame!

10. IMPORTANT CONCEPTS • Position • Position is hugely important in full ring • Many players to act behind you • Being out of position in a multiway pot is bad news • Being in early position is a big disadvantage • Players in small stakes games are likely to call too much

19. CALLING RAISES PREFLOP • We will often be multiway in full ring, both IP and OOP • That means we will often be facing big pots postflop • We have to be careful of being dominated • This means being outkicked

THE GAP CONCEPT • When calling a raise in position, it takes a stronger hand to call that raise preflop, than you would need to make the original raise from that position • E.g. someone raises UTG, you would need a hand stronger than AQs, AKo, JJ+ to call that raise • Especially in FR the gap concept is very important • Position is very much amplified • This is because the game plays tighter • Also your villains will be aware of good positional play
