  2. Background: Jn. 13-17 • Jesus had a heart-to-heart talk with his disciples on the eve of his death (13:1; 14:31; 18:1) • Jesus was leaving (14:28; 16:7, 28) and he wanted to give (14:27)

  3. Background: Jn. 13-17 • What did Jesus leave? What was his legacy? Money? Property? • His legacy was spiritual in nature and personal – “my” (14:27; 15:9; 15:9-11; 16:33; 17:13, 24)

  4. The Lord’s Legacy 1. Divine love (13:1) – give love to those in your home (Eph. 5:25; Tit. 2:4), your brotherhood (1 Pet. 2:17), your community (Rom. 13:8-9)

  5. The Lord’s Legacy Love that obeys (14:15, 21, 23-24; 15:9-10, 14) Love that unites (15:12-14, 17; 16:27; 17:23, 26)
