  1. Chicago travel guide The third most peopled town in the United States is known as Chicago city, after New York City and Los Angeles. With 2.75 million citizens, it is the most populated town in both the U.S. state of Illinois and the American Area. Its urban area, sometimes called Chicagoland, is home to 9.6 million people and is the third-largest in the United States. Truly, Chicago was listed as an alpha+ international town by the Globalization and Globe Places Research Network and positions 7th on the globe in the 2012 Global Places Catalog. As of 2012, Chicago had the third biggest total urban product in the United States.
