CSC has been quietly participating… • Last week there were problems with… • DT Power-Up Procedures • DT and RPC Trigger synchronization • Relative synchronization plots have been pushed up to the L1 Summary DQM plots • ECAL had problems handling TTC:Resyncs… appears to have been fixed? • ECAL rate fluctuations stopping triggers • HCAL trigger unable to initialize G. Rakness (UCLA)
Under the CMS radar, but a major issue… • Peripheral Crate Turbine in UXC (experimental cavern) has a mechanical breaker which has tripped—requires physical presence in UXC to enable—twice in the past week… • Armando, Theirry, and Sylvestre dos Santos (CERN infrastructure people) are going to look at it Wednesday G. Rakness (UCLA)
ME4/2 • Enabled power to ME4/2 chambers today • Loaded firmware to: • TMB, ALCT, DMB, CFEB’s (needed two separate software patches) • First stab at measuring timing parameters (rx, tx values) • Tomorrow will continue… G. Rakness (UCLA)
Plan for First LHC Collisions Paraphrase of report by T. Camporsi at CMS run meeting 7 Aug 2009 • Establish collisions at s = 900 GeV • Move to collisions at s = 7 TeV • In consultation with experiments, LHC operation will move to higher energy once some luminosity is accumulated by the experiments and experience gained by the machine operations G. Rakness (UCLA)
CMS Timeline w.r.t. LHC Collisions Paraphrase of report by T. Camporsi at CMS run meeting 7 Aug 2009 • At this moment, expect first beams at CMS during the second week of November … thus… • 19 Oct.: CMS will restart continuous running • 19Dec.: LHC will stop for Christmas/New Years break • 3 Jan.: Restart running for 6 – 8 months… G. Rakness (UCLA)
To Do • ME4/2 commissioning • TMB phase shifter software at CERN • Try UCLA suggestions for timing in CFEB muonic timing at 904… G. Rakness (UCLA)
